Write down what makes them recognisable: their favourite food, the band they play too loudly, their first car, the nickname from school, the place they always go on holiday. Those answers make the puzzle personal, and the clues almost write themselves.
Ask a few friends or family members for one memory each. A clue like “What Grandpa burned at every barbecue” will get a laugh, and the birthday person will see who contributed.
Age changes the clues
For a children’s party, use eight to ten short words with simple, picture-like clues: the cake, the pet, the friend next door. For a milestone birthday, such as 40 or 60, aim for fifteen words and a few clues that need a bit of memory.
If some guests are older, print the Large style so the squares and clues are easy to read.
On paper, on phones, or both
Print it in the Festive style with its frame and it looks like a party sheet. Or share a short link and let guests solve on phones. At a bigger party, Race mode lets everyone solve their own grid while a leaderboard shows who is fastest.
Use the secret word for the message at the end, such as the person’s first name or “CHEERS”.
